On
26th June, the community of St Joseph Seminary, Jeppu, gathered to celebrate
Laudato Si’ Day, inspired by the encyclical of Pope Francis, which calls all
people of goodwill to a renewed care for our common home.
The
day began with a meaningful Eucharistic celebration in Hindi, presided over by
Rev. Fr Flavian Lobo, wherein prayers and reflections centered on creation,
stewardship and ecological conversion. The liturgy drew the hearts of the
seminarians to the beauty of God’s handiwork and our solemn duty to protect it.
After
the Mass, a sapling-planting ceremony followed in the seminary garden, with the
staff and students participating enthusiastically. The students, in fellowship
groups, were assigned to clean the seminary premises.
Laudato
Si’ Day was not merely observed but lived as a call to ecological spirituality,
responsible action and reverent wonder.
