The
academic year 2025–26 at St Joseph's Seminary, Mangalore, was solemnly
inaugurated on June 3, 2025, with the celebration of the Holy Spirit Mass and
the Lectio Brevis. The day’s theme, “Human Formation: Learning from the Master
to Serve Him in Our Neighbour”, guided the spiritual and academic tone of the
event.
The
Holy Eucharist was offered, invoking the guidance of the Holy Spirit upon the
formators and seminarians as they embark on a new year of formation. Following
the Mass, the Lectio Brevis, a formal academic address marking the commencement
of the academic year, was delivered, reflecting deeply on the importance of
human formation inspired by the life and mission of Christ.
The
event also included a moment of thanksgiving and transition as the seminary
community honoured the dedicated service of the outgoing Rector, Rev. Fr Ronald
Serrao, for his committed leadership and pastoral care. With gratitude and joy,
Rev. Fr Rajesh Rosario was officially welcomed and appointed as the new Rector
of the seminary.
The
ceremony was graced by the presence of faculty members, seminarians, and
distinguished guests. Their active participation and prayerful presence added
meaning to the occasion, renewing the seminary's commitment to forming
servant-leaders for the Church and society.
