On January 9, 2025, a seminar titled
"Psychological Issues in Priestly Formation" took place, led by Rev.
Fr Joyson Sujay Vas, S.J., a certified counselling psychiatrist and
psychologist. Fr Joyson, who began his Jesuit journey in 2003, brought a wealth
of experience to the discussion.
The session commenced with an engaging
experiment that highlighted how life experiences can leave individuals feeling broken
yet emphasized the call to be "wounded healers." Fr Joyson stressed
the importance of personal healing through self-love and self-acceptance as a
prerequisite for helping others.
He addressed various challenges seminarians
encounter during their formation, including relationship crises, identity
struggles, and stress. The seminar provided valuable practical insights and
actionable tips for personal growth and improvement, making it a highly
beneficial experience for attendees.
This seminar stands as a testament to the
ongoing efforts to address psychological well-being in priestly formation,
ensuring that future priests are well-equipped to serve their communities.
