On October
13th, 31 brothers from the First-Year Theology class, representing various
dioceses, were formally admitted to Candidacy for Holy Orders during a solemn
ceremony presided over by Emeritus Bishop Aloysius Paul D’Souza.
The following
day, October 14th, during a Holy Mass celebrated by the Bishop of Mangalore,
Most Rev. Dr Peter Paul Saldanha, 20 brothers from the Second-Year Theology
class were instituted as Lectors, while 26 brothers from the Third-Year
Theology class were instituted as Acolytes.
Lectors are
entrusted with the important role of proclaiming the Scriptures during the
Liturgy of the Word, while acolytes are instituted to assist the priest and
deacon at the altar, deepening their service in the liturgy.
The seminary
continues to pray for these brothers as they advance in their journey towards
the priesthood, while the Church remains hopeful for more vocations in the
future.
