Session on Judicious and Responsible Use of Media

A special session on the topic of Judicious and Responsible Use of Media was organised for all philosophy and theology students at St. Joseph's Seminary on July 10 and on July 11, 2023, respectively from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Fr Dr Chetan Lobo, a Capuchin served as a resource person, and Br Melrick D'Souza moderated the session. The session started with a prayer. Rev. Fr Ronald Serrao, the Rector of the Seminary, offered a floral welcome to the resource person. Fr Ivan D'Souza the dean of philosophy; Fr Antony George Pinto the dean of theology; and Fr Joswin D Souza, the professor in the philosophy department, were present for the initiation programme. The resource person, Fr Dr Chetan Lobo, started the session with an ice-breaking question. Then he explained how media and their usefulness in this current era. He emphasised the point that media as an object does not have any good or bad aspects; it is the user who defines it as good or bad. He also mentioned the working strategy of the media and how it misuses users’ data. So, he gave some input on how to use media judiciously and responsibly. At the end, there was a Q&A session. The chief guest cleared up three doubts and questions that were raised by the participants. The session ended with a vote of thanks.
