The academic programme at St Joseph’s Interdiocesan Seminary lasts seven years: three years of
Philosophy and four years of Theology courses, leading to the conferring of the Bachelor of

Urbaniana University, Rome.
I. Academic Eligibility for Admission to the Seminary
For Philosophical Studies:
The Institute is primarily open to diocesan seminarians, religious and lay people. Students who
wish to pursue a certain number of philosophy courses may also be admitted. Those in formation
for the diocesan priesthood or religious life should have completed one year of a Propaedeutic
programme or Novitiate.
For Theological Studies:
Admission to the First Cycle leading to the Baccalaureate Degree in Theology (B.Th.) is open to all
students who have completed a Baccalaureate Degree in Philosophy or a two-year Philosophy
course from an ecclesiastical faculty or affiliated institute. Candidates for the priesthood are also
expected to have completed at least one year of Regency.
II. ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS:
The Academic Programme has been reorganized in alignment with the demands of the Veritatis
Gaudium and the Instruction on the Affiliation of Institutes of Higher Studies.

complete all prescribed courses. Each course carries a credit value based on its significance. One
credit corresponds to 15 lecture hours, along with an equivalent amount of time for independent
